also do all the internet nerds who try to emulate rorschach not realize that rorschach’s strict insistence on following his own rules is what caused his death

I’d actually love a source because all I’m finding is that he died from appendicitis and this sounds like a fascinating story

you’re talking about the creator of the test, the post is about a character from Watchmen

#I CANT BELIEVE WATCHMEN ENDED WITH RORSCHACH DYING OF APPENDICITUS

I teared up when he cursed socialized medicine with his dying breath.

can we just take a moment to appreciate how ridiculous this map is

Utah: hotbed of promiscuity.

So Toshi and I were squinting over the pin key, and this is what we could make out:  Black Market, Drugs, Anti War Demos, Promiscuity*, Draft Evaders, Illegal Immigration, Murder, Prostitution, Corruption, Extortion,
Kidnapping.

*Might be a reference to Polygamy, given all the white dots in southern Utah.

Also Toshi pointed this out, but the cluster of pins in east Tennessee are over Oak Ridge, headquarters of the Manhattan Project.

Just a note: It’s not ‘black market’, it’s ‘black unrest’. I’m pretty sure you can corroborate that with the GN. Nelson being Nelson again. :\

I know this probably isn’t what they intended but I’m just imagining the Race Riot in the Gulf of Mexico right now.

This map was only onscreen for like two seconds, but it’s another example of how adapting some things verbatim from the comic didn’t work for the movie. Like, these things made sense for Captain Metropolis, but no way Adrian gave a fuck about promiscuity in Utah.

And this map said a LOT about Captain Metropolis. I was never a fan of the “oh Nelson you silly old gay man you” fanon characterization that showed up a lot because whoa now the dude wanted the Crimebusters to fight against the Civil Rights Movement and shut down anti-Vietnam War demonstrations and shit. What a fucking dick.

wanted to try out some of watchmenpaletteslovely swatches. I’ll feel guilty for over-indulging in symbolism and always drawing the same characters another day.

It’s not about racist whitewashing, just to clear that up now, but it is an interesting read about how Before Watchmen, specifically Darwyn Cooke’s issues, totally miss the fucking point.

I’ve only read the first part, and the author seems 1.) a little obsessed with phalluses (but maybe that’s just my academic ignorance, haha) and 2.) possibly a little too forgiving of Moore, but besides that it really clarifies for me what it was about the Minutemen issues that made me so uncomfortable.
